[PUBLIC RELEASE] 1.4.5.0 Hits Public!
It's the day you've been waiting for. We've had a nice handful of signups on Patreon and SubscribeStar over the past week, so 1.4.5.0 is now free to play for everyone, early!
Here's what's new (patch notes):
- Blossom's total scene count raised to 3
- Gillie's total scene count raised to 5
- Jade's total scene count raised to 5 (includes H-scene)
- Princess Tilai's total scene count raised to 5 (includes H-scene)
- Fantasies Collection Add-on updated with new H-scenes
- Various typo fixes
- Massive shortening of disclaimer when starting a new game
- Slight edits to a few scenes in Season 1
- DLC compatibility framework adjustments
This one took a lot out of us. Blossom in particular was being a little shit, and we need a little more time to really nail down how we want her story to go.
I recently completely binged Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and it hit me so hard. I'm so used to being the one teaching people how to write, with the 25 years of writing experience, 2 published books, blah, blah, blah... that it was... almost refreshing to be completely blown out of the water and humbled by another piece of writing. And even that's kind of an understatement. The writers for that game make me look STUPID by comparison. It's exciting because I get to learn again. The story in that game is phenomenal, and there are several narrative techniques I've picked up from it that I want to practice with in order to deliver better story experiences, and I fully intend to make use of the things I learned in the coming episodes and side stories of WCA.
Anyways, enjoy the build, and we're hard at work on Season 2 Episode 5 :)

Still very confused who eyleth is! I was thinking succubus but im not sure. It's not explained even tho mc seems to be acquainted with her to some degree already and she doesn't show up on the free time sections of the game.
She hasn't been explored as a character quite yet. All you know for certain is that she's the night security officer, and that it's dangerous to be alone with her... but we're getting there.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is so good man, glad you enjoyed that game. I really hope the game wins GOTY. And best soundtrack too.
Also nice, the update is out. Will play it sometime this week
God, I hope it does. It is exactly the type of thing that could shake up the gaming industry. I love everything about that game.

I cannot stop obsessing about that game. I have not been so emotionally gripped by a narrative in 20 years, not since the first Kingdom Hearts. Death Stranding came really close, because I really loved that game and its world and story, but I ADORE Clair Obscur.
I'm currently hip deep in my first Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough but I've been seeing more and more that I should try Expedition 33 next.
Oh my god. I'm telling you. I TEACH other authors how to write, and that game makes me look stupid by comparison. They even used a twist that I believed for my entire life was a hallmark of bad writing, but instead of ruining the story, it ELEVATED it. HOW? Not to mention it has Charlie Cox, Jennifer English, Andy Serkis (who is extremely picky about the roles he chooses), and many more. The scenes and conversations are so... human. The story is gripping and emotional. The combat is... kind of like turn based Elden Ring, really. I'm not a From Software fan, but Clair Obscur feels equal parts beauty and brutality. I'm floored. I NEVER New Game +, and I'm doing one on this game. Please do yourself a favor and play it, or watch it as a movie on YouTube. It puts everything I've written to shame, and I'm absolutely taking notes.
Interesting... having seen Gillie without her makeup for the first time, I had to sit and think of who I was reminded of. It took me a while, but then I got it - Karen Gillan (Doctor Who & Guardians of the Galaxy). Maybe it's just me.
Honestly, that was a happy accident. I misclicked on a skin texture and went WAIT A SEC. Coupled that with some high end hair with physics and Gillie (Bedtime) was born.
